About me

I would like to start the introduction with the most critical aspects of our potential relationship. My name is Darko, I am a massive fan of Science-Fiction, particularly Blade Runner and Star Wars; I love and collect comic books, read fantasy novels on a nightly basis; I’m passionate about basketball, specifically the NBA, and besides having many different jobs throughout my past, I also worked as a video-game journalist for over a decade. Oh yeah, I also regularly lift weights, train like a powerlifter, although I am not one, and mostly maintain a flexible and healthy diet. After almost dying as a result of over a two decades of morbid obesity.

The later part I consider the most significant achievement in my fitness and health journey. In the late January of 2010, I have stood on a scale and measured my weight for the first time in six years, since high-school. I did it in a clinic specialised for obesity, in a waiting room, in front of 15-20 people who were staring at me. At that moment I faced the truth, which was one of the most painful moments of my life. I realised that I weighed over 180 kg (~400 pounds).

I decided not to go for a typical “my story” kind of a style in this section. Here, I’m trying to give you the summary of my values, beliefs and the purpose of my work. Chunks of my story I am going to include into the blog articles and social media posts. I want you to get to know the real me.

So in a way, this ‘About me’ page is more about you. And my service to you. Being a giver, instead of a taker, is theoretically a lousy business plan, but just like as you should do with your health and fitness, I aim for the long-term success. Building credibility and the brand is something I can do only by – being me.

I consider it crucial to mention and show my transformation here only to present you with a proof that I don’t just have a map. I firmly believe that overcoming all of my challenges gives me a much more complete understanding of what you are going through, thus equipping myself with the ability to help you in a way that you deserve and to guide you through the swamp with the confidence. My experience is just another gadget in my utility belt, just as science-based education is. This is not about business. It’s definitely not, at will never be, about me showing off. It’s about showing you that it’s possible.

It’s possible to achieve your goals, your potential, to feel amazing, to look great, without having to sacrifice your entire life and follow rigorous diets that will lead you only to a breaking point, sooner or later. I can boldly guarantee it.

However, it’s not easy, no matter what anyone says. But I am here to make it more simple, fun and enjoyable process, and not a constant mindless grind. Besides understanding, I have the utter empathy towards your current situation, and my job here is to provide care, give you a structure, but also to make you accountable.

It is important to mention that I am one hundred percent transparent with my business – the process, the expectation, and the results will be clear. Now, you probably expect me to say the predictable line “if I could do it, anyone can”. However, this would imply that we all have the same driving factor, the willpower level, determination, and habits. We don’t. But I’m here to guide you towards it and teach you how to develop these skills.

As transparency goes, I will also add that yes, this is my business, and I’m making money through it, but for me, it is much more important HOW I make money. Essentially, I am in the Happiness business, and I believe that if you’re not happy with your body, you’re not completely happy.

Happiness is hard to build without a healthy, supportive and reliable relationship, so my primary goal is to create that kind of a relationship with you.

Although I am currently interested in a variety of clients – meaning that my work doesn’t revolve around any distinct demographic – we may, or may not, be the perfect match. I strongly rely on creating a bond between us, which allows us to work as a team. I am not suitable for everyone, just as how everyone isn’t ideal for me. And exactly like in sports, having particular chemistry is crucial for us to be successful teammates.

These are the reasons why I work only with a limited number of people simultaneously.

Full Disclosure

I don’t look like this today. In January of 2014, my wife and I made a huge gamble with our lives, risked everything, and started a completely new life in another country. The result of the next four months was a huge amount of stress, chronic lack of sleep, and I wasn’t able to train at all and even eating healthy wasn’t my priority. In that very short period of time, I gained approximately 30 kg (66 pounds) of weight. 

 

However, I got back on track really fast and took control over my weight with no remorse. For the past three years, I’ve been going up and down through my cutting and bulking cycles, latest being between 102.6 and 112.9 kg. Currently, I am much more focused on my performance in the gym and life in general. But I am slowly going through another transformation, where I’m trying to maintain or gain muscle mass and improve my strength and work capacity. I will keep you updated with the process on my social media profiles.”
